I am a dedicated and creative filmmaker, journalist, and executive producer with extensive experience in investigative journalism and documentary production. My films are characterised by compelling narratives and high-quality visual storytelling. With a strong background in journalism, I have delivered award-winning projects which have addressed challenging and sensitive topics, working with victims and survivors of serious crimes and their families and focussing on story areas which drive social change. I have a strong track record in building trust with these contributors, working with them to tell their stories with great care but also great power. My work with colleagues has been recognised by the Royal Television Society, BAFTA Scotland and the British Podcast Awards, among others. I am proficient in Sony Fx, Fs and a7s range cameras, as well as the Canon C70, and I am adept at using prime lenses, sound recording equipment and lighting to achive high-end documentary interviews and sequences. I have strong experience in both active, observational filmmaking and constructing narratives for retrospective stories. Throughout my 15-year career with the BBC and beyond, I have always sought to push the boundaries of factual and documentary filmmaking, experimenting with aspect ratios, vintage cameras and large-scale projectors. In 2023 my work for the BBC's current affairs strand Disclosure saw me shortlisted in the Director category at the RTS Scotland Awards. My years as a producer and director have given me excellent experience in navigating the compliance and legal issues associated with challenging programme making. Mostly though, I a committed to telling important and compelling stories which expand our understanding of the world around us. Read Less
