In all seriousness though, the person transferring data from cards to drive should be making copies as they transfer.
Lots of good apps out there. Resolve actually has a bit bad tab that dies copying and checking as it does so.
In the data backup works, it needs to be backed up in three places. Also. Speak to the owners of the cards and ask them for extensions on when they wipe. That’s saved us a couple of times- notably the sound seems to be vulnerable. Maybe the size of the SD cards are easier to lose or miss-label.
